A product of a little-known company Worlds of Wonder, Action Max represents a small group of consoles using a VHS video recorder to deliver gameplay. Games were recorded as films on ordinary video cassettes. The gameplay always looked the same, and the console used a lightgun to recognise when specially marked tagets on the screen are hit. This solution provided (theoretically) photorealistic graphics, however due to games being virtually non-interactive, only a few consoles of this type were released.
